“The Great Dream Town” is a photography project that explores the blurred boundaries between collective memory, personal dreams, and the zeitgeist of an era. Through the construction of an inner universe named “Dream Capital,” the project examines how everyday spaces—such as deserted parks, classrooms, corridors, and street corners—that served as the spiritual backdrop for a generation around the millennium have become vessels carrying complex emotions and subtle unease.

In terms of creation, I deliberately employed imperfect focus, coarse grain, and a somewhat casual shooting style to emulate the texture of photographs in family albums. This visual strategy is not a technical deficiency but rather a visual metaphor for the inherent fuzziness, selectivity, and unreliability of memory itself. The warm tones and serene atmosphere permeating the images attempt to recreate the soft glow of childhood recollections, while unconventional compositions and frozen moments subtly disrupt this tranquility, revealing the alienation lurking beneath the sense of familiarity.
